Frederiksborg Palace
Scenes from the beautiful Denmark.
Frederiksborg Slot was rebuilt as a royal residence for King Christian IV of Denmark-Norway in the early 17th century. It was rebuilt in the Dutch Renaissance style by King Christian IV.
It is situated near the Danish town of Hillerød and was the first Danish castle away from the coast or close to ports as the sea had traditionally been the principal means of travel.
This photochrom image is taken between 1890 and 1900.
We have adjusted colours and contrasts and removed some scratches and marks. But the beautifully gradient is a result of the original colouring process.
Printed with Japanese archival ink on a matte Hahnemühle paper in our own studio in rural Copenhagen, Denmark.
